Earlier this year I met a child named Alexa and was slightly horrified for her as I imagined having to grow up in a world dominated by Amazon’s popular bot.
I suspected she might be the last Alexa. What kind of parent would name a child Alexa today?
Amazon Alexa was born in 2014. It turns out that rather than take a permanent dip as I’d suggest, the popularity of the name Alexa jumped from 63rd to 32nd in popularity for 2015 but has settled back into 65th place for 2017.
The top baby names for 2017 were Emma and Liam as measured by the Social Security Administration.
Fortunately, Echo and Dot are not in the top 1,000 baby names at this time.
